The Sea Consortium (Seacon) group is splashing out over $50m to acquire a pair of feeder containerships originally ordered by Greek owner Avin International.
The 1,700-teu resales in the works at China’s Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding look set to replace two newbuildings the Singapore-based owner had at troubled STX Dalian.
The first of the former Avin vessels, the X-Press Nuptse (ex-Kriti Sea, built 2014), was scheduled for delivery this month to Seacon’s feeder operation, X-Press Feeders.
