South Korean gas buyer Kogas has kicked off a much-anticipated tender process for a clutch of LNG newbuildings.

The state-run outfit, which ranks as the world’s largest single LNG buyer, reached out to compatriot shipowners this week for six ships of between 172,000 cbm and 180,000 cbm, all of which are required for delivery in 2017. The business will not be opened up to foreign owners.
