The International Maritime Bureau’s (IBM) Piracy Reporting Center has raised concerns over the worrying trend of small- tanker hijackings that are occurring in increasing numbers in Southeast Asia.
There are at least six known cases of small coastal tankers being hijacked for their diesel or petroleum cargo since April, which has sparked fears of a new trend in piracy attacks in the area.
