Small and medium-size gas carriers are set to face downward rate pressures in the next couple of years — but potential longer-term market volatility could lead them out of a current downturn, according to a new report.

Resilient ammonia and increasing LPG trades could benefit medium gas carriers (MGCs), while the small gas carrier (SGC) sector — although likely to face stronger downward pressure — has potential for an uptick in 2017 from shale-gas development, DVB Group predicts.
