Two major investment banks have filled vacant equity-analyst positions with hires lacking previous shipping experience.

UBS has tapped Spiro Dounnis to fill the role left open when Joshua Katzeff departed three months ago. Meanwhile, at Deutsche Bank (DB), Amit Mehrotra has taken the spot recently vacated by Taylor Mulherin.

The hirings are a less dramatic resolution than envisaged by some who have watched a recent reshuffling of analysts.
