Mumbai broking sources say the Indian shipowner bought the 52,400-dwt bulker Alianca Orient (built 2006) for around $18m.

The Tsuneishi-built ship was sold by Chijin Shipping, which bought the vessel in 2012 for an undisclosed sum.

Global United is in the midst of a fleet expansion, having acquired the 37,450-cbm LPG carrier Eeklo (built 1995) from Exmar LPG for $34m in May, as well as the 52,200-dwt supramax bulker Western Singapore (built 2003) from Japanese owner Nisshin Shipping Co for $17.5m.
