Embattled Taiwanese shipowner Nobu Su is having one more crack at getting some money out of the bankruptcy proceedings of his Today Makes Tomorrow (TMT).
Su’s focus is now on the sales proceeds of the 317,000-dwt Fortune Elephant (built 2011), which was sold for $78.1m to the Onassis group in June.
The owner is once again making the case that he holds patent rights to a special piping design used in the VLCC and that he is owed compensation from proceeds in excess of the bank debt that was repaid after the sale.
