Norwegian shipowner John Fredriksen is readying his first crude tanker newbuilding order in over four years.

Fredriken’s Frontline 2012 is switching its focus to suezmax tankers with letters of intent (LOI) penned at shipyards in China and South Korea for up to 16 vessels including options, some sources claim.

Daehan Shipbuilding and Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in Korea, along with Chinese shipbuilder New Times Shipbuilding, are said to have secured the LOIs.
