Some describe Viking Supply Ships as one of Norway’s “grand old ladies” in offshore shipowning and with good reason, since it was one of the very first North Sea pioneers in 1974 and is today rich with know-how and heritage as it marks 40 years in business.
Christen Sveaas, Viking Supply’s owner since buying a controlling stake in 1989, agrees the company is steeped in tradition but he bristles at the term “old lady”.
