Sources say Petronas, which now handles the procurement of the group’s LNG newbuilding business rather than shipping arm MISC, firmed up a 150,200-cbm, Moss-type vessel for delivery in November 2017.

Petronas originally signed contracts for a quartet of LNG newbuildings worth $850m at HHI in October 2013. The vessels will be fitted with ultra-reheat steam-turbine propulsion systems and integrated hull systems similar to the Sayendo-type LNG tank construction for several vessels that are on order in Japan.
