Reederei Nord has inked orders for another four 1,700-teu containerships in China.

The German owner is understood to have declared its last four options at Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding in what is estimated to be a $100m-plus deal.

The orders take to 16 the number of ships in the series booked at the Chinese yard by Nord and its private-equity partners.

Nord placed an initial order for eight vessels in April 2011 for between $24m and $25m each and added a further four to its orderbook in March this year.
