The joint venture between Taiwanese oil company CPC Corp, U-Ming Marine Transport Corp and Chinese Maritime Transport is set to ink a single tanker, with an option for a second.
Market sources say it has approached yards in Japan and South Korea.
One source says GEMC is looking for the firm ship to be delivered in late 2016.
A GEMC official declines to comment on the company’s ordering activity but does say it is looking to increase the size of its fleet.
