Kumiai pumps up orderbook with bulker pair at Nacks

Japanese-owned Kumiai Senpaku is further expanding its fleet with the addition of two bulker newbuildings.

It has gone to Sino-Japanese yard Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co (Nacks) for a pair of 205,000-dwt bulkers for delivery in November and December 2016.

Newbuilding brokers estimate the company is paying around $61m each for the units.

Officials at Kumiai were not available for comment before TradeWinds went to press.

The company previously booked three 207,500-dwt bulkers at Nacks but the vessels were constructed by affiliate yard Dalian Cosco Shipbuilding Industry Co (Dacos).
