Excelerate Energy is said to have netted Chubu Electric Power Co, Mitsubishi and NYK Corp’s 153,000-cbm Sheishu Maru for one year at what is being described by market players as a “very weak” rate of $44,000 per day.
The charter, which includes an option to extend the business by a further year, is seen as a stop-gap before the ship is needed to lift the volumes Chubu is buying from the US, which are scheduled to start from 2017.
