A potential sale of Venezuela’s downstream petroleum assets in the US could lead to a shift in trades as government-owned PDVSA increasingly looks east for its energy exports, shipbroker analysts say.

PDVSA is said to be seeking offers for Citgo, the Houston-based refiner and downstream marketer of petroleum products, in a transaction that could be worth $10bn. Citgo controls three refineries in the US.
