“We thought the recovery in the chemical parcel tanker segment would come in 2014 and last through 2017 — today I question whether that’s going to happen,” he said.

Underlying the inflated ship supply, the global manufacturing growth that determines demand for long-range chemical transport is slackening, the more so as Chinese GDP growth settles down.

“I don’t think our fleet will shrink.
