Singapore’s BW Group is playing down market talk that it is closing in on orders for a series of long-range-one (LR1) products tankers worth close to $500m.
The company has this year been involved in acquiring 20 medium-range (MR) tankers and 10 chemical carriers from the secondhand market. Shipping sources say it is now targeting a contract for four firm ships, with options for up to six more.
