Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) and Unifeeder have given the first indication of the fees shippers will have to pay as a result of SECA surcharges to be implemented at the start of 2015. Shortsea and European feeder operator Unifeeder will introduce a surcharge of EUR 65 ($83) per teu for its services in Northern Europe.
Meanwhile, MSC — which operates in Europe as well as to the SECA zone in North America — says the extra costs will apply on top of existing bunker surcharges.
