Frontline and TI tie-up seen as first move in bigger plan

Reaction largely positive to VLCC chartering venture but market players are looking further down the line

VLCC players Frontline and Tankers International (TI)’s decision to form a joint chartering venture is being viewed as an initial step in what could one day result in the birth of a larger tanker outfit.

Initial reaction to the new venture as TradeWinds went to press was upbeat, with several market players saying consolidation is needed in the large tanker sector.
