The 116,000-dwt Stealth Skyros (built 2011), which is coming off a one-year charter to Koch at just $13,750 per day, is understood to have been fixed for 12 months at $19,500 per day.

In the same segment, Navig8 has extended the hire of the 106,000-dwt Bareilly (built 2005) from London-based Foresight Group.

The tanker has been taken for 12 months at $18,000 per day, brokers say.

The owner of Foresight, Ravi Mehrotra, bought it and a sistership, the Kanpur (built 2005), from Qatar Shipping in 2006 for $70m each.

In the VLCC sector oil major BP has taken the 306,000-dwt Ellinis (built 2007) for 12 months from Greek owner Chandris. BP is said to have agreed to pay $30,000 per day for the tanker.

In the suezmax sector, a couple of Greek-controlled units have secured period employment. BG is understood to have taken the 159,000-dwt Astro Phoenix (built 2004) from Pantheon Tankers for a year at $21,750 per day.

Clarksons says the one-year rate for a modern suezmax is $24,500 per day.

Another suezmax, Delta Tankers’s 163,000-dwt Bouboulina (built 2006), is understood to have been taken on time charter by Trafigura — but the details were unclear.

Meanwhile, on the clean side, Mansel is said to have secured the 49,000-dwt Vinalines Galaxy (built 2007) for three months at just $12,250 per day.

Another MR tanker, the 47,000-dwt Miss Marina (built 2011), appears to have been fixed on time charter by Koch — but the details are also unclear.
