Sekimizu’s faux pas was especially bad because it involved the industry he has served for much of his life and it happened only a short walk from where the headquarters of the company he was talking about is located and close to where its ferries, emblazoned with the name along their hulls, berth every day.
So what happened? Sekimizu slipped away from the “schoolroom” during the two-day forum to visit a DFDS (Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab) car ferry.
