Tongue was due to retire from the ICS but has now opted for a new position at Intercargo. At the ICS, he was director of regulatory affairs and a key representative of the association at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), covering a wide range of industry issues.
Under Lomas, Intercargo played a key role in improving the safety categorisation of dry bulk cargoes, highlighting dry bulk casualties and preventing losses due to cargo liquefaction.
