Vigor Industrial and Seaspan’s Victoria Shipyards have emerged as the likely finalists to convert a pair of Totem Ocean Trailer Express ro-ros to run on LNG.

Anthony Chiarello, chief executive of TOTE Inc, revealed the two contenders on the sidelines of the TradeWinds Jones Act Shipping Forum 2014 in New York.

New Jersey-headquartered TOTE, itself a subsidiary of Seattle’s Saltchuk Group, is aiming to carry out the project on the 7,200-lane-metre Midnight Sun and North Star (both built 2003).
