US Maritime Administration (MarAd) chief Paul “Chip” Jaenichen says his agency will refrain from weakening the cabotage law known as the Jones Act as it prepares a national maritime strategy.

Delivering the keynote address at the TradeWinds Jones Act Shipping Forum 2014, the top US administrator on domestic shipping matters also urged a defensive posture towards potential amendments to the law.
