According to offshore sources, Mumbai-based Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Cairn India, part of UK-based Vedanta Group, are looking for ships to support their proposed exploration programme along the Indian coast.

RIL plans to charter a well stimulation (WS) vessel of up to 6,000 bhp, while Cairn is looking for one or two 3,000-dwt platform supply vessels (PSVs).

Sources say it is unclear how long the WS deal will run and in which offshore block RIL will employ the vessel.
