Taiwanese owner Nobu Su is claiming a company controlled by Polys Haji-Ioannou at the centre of a court case over a failed deal between the two men on forward freight agreements (FFAs) should have sold the position on to mitigate losses.

As a trial opened in London’s High Court this week, it emerged that Su’s lawyers will contend that Lakatamia Shipping — a single-ship company that owns a products tanker of the same name in Haji-Ioannou’s World Tankers Management fleet — should have made sales in small tranches over a number of weeks.

They
