It now appears that 1990s-built tankers are also increasingly becoming scrap candidates.

This week, at least five sizeable ships have been sold for recycling, including four aframaxes.

Two of them have a connection to Italy’s Premuda. In April, the company sold its 94,000-dwt Four Bay (built 1995) to Innovative Industries of Ukraine for a reported $9.1m.

The tanker, renamed Aston, has now been sold to Pakistan for $512 per ldt, or $8.2m.
