Three separate shipping companies are said to have signed up for vessels at the yard.
Tokyo Marine and Canal West, a Japanese special purpose company (SPC) registered in Panama, are behind orders for six 35,000-dwt vessels, according to informed sources.
Two newbuildings, plus two options, involve Tokyo Marine, while Canal West has contracted two units.
Meanwhile, Japanese trading house Itochu Corp has booked a pair of 25,000-dwt vessels on the back of a long-term charter to an unidentified Chinese operator.
