Siem Car Carriers is in the process of ordering three newbuildings at Uljanik Shipyard in Croatia.

The Norwegian shipowner is returning for the new 7,000-car-equivalent-unit (ceu) trio to the yard that built its two trading car carriers, the 4,300-ceu Dresden and Verona (both built 2000).

Siem director Simon Stevens confirms the company has signed a contract with Uljanik. He says the move is a sign of Siem’s commitment to the business at a time when demand for modern fuel-efficient tonnage is rising.
