The IOPC Fund is to pay the North of England Protecting and Indemnity Association $1.28m (EUR 1m) to draw a line under a 200-ton spill off Pylos, Greece, by the 83,000-dwt Iliad (built 1975).
The incident is caught up in messy limitation proceedings in Greece but, under the deal, the North of England Club has agreed to hold the IOPC Fund harmless from any future liability.
