Khulna Shipyard, established in 1957, diversified into merchant shipbuilding this year with an order for two feederships from state-owned Bangladesh Inland Waterways and Transport Corp (BIWTC). The 200-teu vessels are set for delivery in 2015
It now intends to build a new plant near its existing facility at Khulna on the country’s southern coast, in a joint venture with an international partner.
