Horizon Lines has co-ordinated its own disappearance in a sweeping move that will bring a reordering of the cast of characters in the US domestic liner trades protected by the Jones Act cabotage law.
In transactions that all came to light on the same day, the containership owner said it would end its business serving Puerto Rico by year’s end, sell its Hawaii-to-US mainland business to Pasha Group and offload everything else to Pacific arch-rival Matson.
