Delphis, the soon-to-be liner division of Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB), is behind an order for two LNG-fuelled containerships at South Korea’s Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC).

Chief executive Alexander Saverys confirms the owner has inked the deal for the pair of ice-strengthened, 1,900-teu newbuildings for delivery between March and July 2016.

The high-specification vessels to be built at HHIC’s Yeoungdo facility are costing a pricey $34m each, with optional vessel deliveries stretching into 2017.
