As many as six tankers in the fleet of Venezuela’s PDV Marina appear to have been sold for demolition in a rare en-bloc deal.
The 1980s-built vessels have been sold at auction, which indicates PDV Marina had nothing to do with the sale.
The sextet are understood to have gone for just $136 per ldt, or $10m en bloc.
They include the 88,000-dwt Morichal (built 1984) and Leander (built 1983), plus the 55,000-dwt Moruy and Paria (both built 1983).
