The offshore vessel market in US waters off the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) is feeling the pain as slumping oil prices combine with the continued wait for long-promised deepwater rigs that have been slower to arrive than expected.
While experts say long-term fundamentals remain promising, offshore supply vessels (OSVs) are suffering from declining utilisation that could last for several more months and could soon be accompanied by day rate declines.
