Japanese gas player and very large gas carrier (VLGC) owner Astomos Energy Corp is taking a special interest in the new Chinese-built VLGCs — not because it expects to order in China itself but because it is uniquely positioned to grab bargain charters as the ships are delivered.
China lacks a track record in the big gas sector but it has 10 vessels on order for delivery in 2016, primarily at Jiangnan Shipyard.
