The ‘64 Express’ is unlike other legs of the vast highway system in the US — being in the middle of the James River

The James River Barge Line carries 10,000 teu of containers per year on this feeder service route between the Virginian ports of Hampton Roads and Richmond in one of the few operating segments of America’s Marine Highway (AMH) system — a US government initiative aimed at taking cargo off congested land routes and onto Jones Act-qualified roros, boxships and oceangoing articulated tug-barges (ATBs).
