The tangled web of outstanding payments, attempts to secure debts and the chain of responsibility following the collapse of OW Bunker is prompting questions from all sectors of the industry.

“Is there any international law or commercial law that protects a supplier’s goods?” queries Irene Notias, purchasing director of Athens-based Prime Petroleum Services.

As the only bunker broker thought to be based in the Greek capital, Notias believes the key difficulty in this case arises from the fact that OW Bunker purchased goods on behalf of its customer.
