Zen is said to have acquired the Admiralteyskiy-built, 33,540-dwt Cape Blanc (built 1998) for $9.2m from German KG (limited partnership) house Konig & Cie.
However, Zen chairman Rajesh Lihala says negotiations are ongoing. A deal is expected to be finalised by the end of this month.
Lihala says the Cape Blanc will trade in the spot market, between India and the Middle East, until the chemicals market improves.
