Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has joined the exclusive club — dominated by South Korean builders — of yards delivering mega-boxships.
The Jiangyin-based shipbuilder was only constructing 1,000-teu vessels a decade ago but will deliver nine of 10,000 teu this year.
Yangzijiang chief executive Ren Yuanlin is all smiles as he describes the company’s transformation to TradeWinds.
“In the past, our total sales volume for a year was only $100m but today it is about $1bn,” said Ren.
