Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has trimmed down its shortlist in its search for a partner to provide ultra-large containerships (ULCs).

It is thought that just two containership owners — Seaspan Corp and local owner Shoei Kisen — remain in MOL’s tender for vessels of over 18,000 teu, down from five originally. However, the position was complicated by talk of a third unnamed player throwing its hat into the ring at the last moment and riling ousted bidders.
