Market sources tell TradeWinds that the New York-listed company teamed up with Access Leasing Corp to purchase the 125,000-dwt Kodiak (renamed Eagle Ford, built 1978) from SeaRiver Maritime.

Access, which is based in California, was the co-owner of the Kodiak and its sistership Sierra (built 1979) when SeaRiver acquired the duo for roughly $50m en bloc back in 2005. At the time, it was widely believed that the transaction included a “kicker” that called for a bonus to be paid to Access and its partner, GATX Corp, if the Kodiak continued to trade beyond 2008.
