A total of 60 LNG carriers have been ordered so far in 2014, the largest orders haul in this sector for 10 years.
Figures show that 2014 was only topped by 2004, when 75 LNG newbuildings were contracted, according to Platou LNG. The tally for 2011 came a close third, with a 56-ship LNG orders tally.
Brokers say more LNG orders are still pending for this year that could see the final number for 2015 pushed even higher.
