Brokers data show that two of these represent the world’s first LNG bunker tanker newbuildings.
NYK, GDF Suez and Mitsubishi Corp were the first off the blocks, contracting a 5,000-cbm LNG bunker vessel at Hanjin Heavy Industries. Shell followed in the past few weeks with a 6,500-cbm vessel at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.
The two vessels are due for delivery in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
