Bulker owners produced the worst performer, with an overall loss of 66% of their share value. But the red numbers did not stop there — boxships dropped 28% and owners in the gas sector fell 17%, according to figures provided by Clarkson Capital Markets (CCM).

Only tanker owners threatened to break into the black, with an overall loss of 6%, largely on the back of a rally over the past two weeks.
