The UK mutual’s caution comes shortly after the sudden loss of the 56,000-dwt Bulk Jupiter (built 2006) on 30 December while carrying a cargo of Malaysian bauxite, loaded at the port of Kuantan and bound for China.
Although the accident, which left 18 seafarers missing, is still under investigation and the cause is unknown, cargo liquefaction has been suggested as a likely cause.
