“Scorpio Bulkers is evaluating conversions of several other assets,” the company said in a statement this week after being approached by TradeWinds.
However, Scorpio Bulkers also said there will be no more conversions into long-range-two (LR2) products tankers, and that any further bulkers to be switched will not be acquired by fellow public company Scorpio Tankers.
Scorpio Bulkers’ acknowledgement thus looks to throw cold water on some broker reports that had it seeking to convert 10 more bulkers into products tankers: six to LR2s and LR1s at Sundong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and four to LR2s at Daehan Shipbuilding.
