The US owner of Great Lakes bulkers expects its cargo volumes to sink as a result of lower spot requirements, says Brian Kenney, chief executive of parent GATX. But the shipping season on the US-Canadian waterways is expected to start more normally this year.

“Segment profit should still increase slightly due to some price increases as well as ASC’s ability to lever those tonnage requirements with the lower number of vessels than in 2014,” he said during a conference call with analysts.
