Fleet-expansion efforts appear to be paying off for suezmax specialist Nordic American Tankers (NAT) as it returned to the black in the fourth quarter.
Last summer, the Herbjorn Hansson-led company made its first secondhand purchases since 2011 and booked its first newbuildings in half a decade as the year came to a close.
It paid $36.5m each for the 159,000-dwt Nordic Sprinter and Nordic Skier (both built 2005) in June from Enterprise Shipping & Trading of Greece.
