Shipping bodies have welcomed the move by the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) to leave transit dues unchanged for the first time in four years, saying it provides a “respite” for the industry.
“The ‘no increase of Suez Canal tolls’ is a welcome easing” to global shipping’s pain, BIMCO’s chief shipping analyst Peter Sand says, adding that the news was “well received” by the industry.
